What we do

African Corner Notts exists primarily to benefit the wider community of the minority group in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire with a view of sharing knowledge of African culture through carnivals, festivals and workshops which can shine a light on important contemporary issues by pursuing a social purposes with all assets to be used for public good.

 

The company's activities is to promote understanding of art and culture amongst the minority groups in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, advance the care of its people, organise events and activities for the cause and facilitate the development and management of the group's activities to benefit their immediate community. It showcases African Art and Cultural activities through drumming, performing arts - masquerade costumes traditional dance, live music and songs. Its core purpose is to promote culture and values in the UK and is not for profit organisation that aims to use social events centred on culture to engage our communities and foster a better social cohesion.

 

African Corner Notts liaise with other organisations and community groups with similar cause currently, working with Nottingham Carnival, Mojatu foundation, Hyson green cultural festival and African Community Nottingham by showcasing African culture on stage through dance, fashion show(dashiki/ankara to display), performances from local and home group artists, dance groups, troupes and best of Disk Jockeys  playing the best in African music.
